Did you know that since QueerTheology.com started in 2015 we’ve received over 20,000 emails?
And Brian and I have answered every single one.
These emails often require deep levels of pastoral care; people are reaching out to us in the midst of depression, fear about coming out, or other crises. Or they are worried about their children or people in their church.
Other times these emails require research or the development of new resources so that we can meet new needs.
Sometimes these emails carry hate messages or tell us that we are going to Hell. Sometimes these messages call us sick and sinful. Sometimes these messages even carry death threats. [Okay, so sometimes we just delete those messages without responding.]
Often times we think about responding to emails as light-hearted work, but our emails, your emails to us, are a responsibility and one that we do not take lightly. We love to hear from you. We love walking alongside you.
And yet, the depth of response that these emails require is incredible for just two people. These emails sometimes take an emotional toll. We worry over them. We want to get them *just right*.
So along with all of the other work we do we spend hours every week making sure that every email we get gets an answer. It might not seem like it at first, but these email exchanges are a precious ministry.
Continuing to be able to answer all of our emails with love and compassion is part of why we’re doing this Patreon campaign. If you’d like to support this work you can do so patreon.com/queertheology.
Thank you for trusting us and thank you for supporting us now.
